Dear Quantum Communications Community Recipient,

Continuing the successful series of training events in Athens and Crete, HellasQCI – a European co-funded project coordinated by GRNET – is proudly launching the HellasQCI Winter School (Training Workshop) 2025, in Thessaloniki; a FREE three-day training workshop on Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) and Space-based QKD technologies, combining theory, hands-on lab experience, and expert-led sessions.

Participants from other National Quantum Communication Infrastructures (NatQCIs), academia, industry, policymakers, and cybersecurity experts will come together to build the future of secure quantum communications within the EuroQCI initiative.

The event will be held under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence, with the support of the General Secretariat of Telecommunications and Post, and is organised by the HellasQCI consortium.

Audience

Quantum Physics students & early-stage researchers in quantum, ICT, and engineering, scientists and university faculty members, National QCI representatives, policymakers, and stakeholders from governmental institutions involved in the security of critical infrastructure and sensitive data.

Description

This three-day training workshop will focus on the core pillars of quantum-secure communications through expert-led sessions and live demonstrations. Key topics include Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) and Space-based QKD, highlighting their role in building future-proof communication systems. Participants will gain both theoretical insights and hands-on training, including practical experience with terrestrial and space-based QKD technologies.

The programme also offers opportunities to network with leading experts and stakeholders from across Europe’s quantum ecosystem. Attendees will contribute to national and cross-border collaboration efforts and take part in discussions on Greece’s national roadmap for quantum technologies, within the broader context of the European Quantum Communication Infrastructure (EuroQCI) and Europe’s pursuit of quantum sovereignty.
